A day at the park

After a few days of yucky weather, the sun came out at a convenient time Thursday morning. With black clouds still in the sky, I decided that the sooner weleft fr the park, the better.  So I fed the boys then off to the park we went.  Of course when we got there, Konnor was asleep.

But then everywhere we went he wanted a picture taken of him.  One more picture was taken of baby KC before we left, which happen to be the same position as the picture we took of him right when we got to the park. 

Surprisingly we left the park and got home just before a crazy wind/rain storm started.  Phew!

Highland Nights and Alpine Days

Highland Days was held the last weekend in July, so we decided to take the boys to fireworks that night.

Before the fireworks started, we bought Jack a cool light saber to keep him busy.  Like six different color settings.  To understand the video a little better, Jacks favorite movie then was Spiderwick.  We love our little killer.

Alpine Days was the first weekend in August and also the last fireworks of the year.  So most of the Gillette family got together and made a sleepover of it. BBQ the night before with a movie outside on the deck that night as well. Watched Tooth Fairy with The Rock and it was pretty funny.  Grandpa made the boys pipe guns which was a big hit figuratively and literally.  Playing in the hammock was also a big hit.  The simplest things that entertain little boys...  Love it!

Peanut Butterscotch Drops

Peanut Butterscotch Drops

1 (11-ounce) package or 1 2/3 cups Butterscotch Flavored Morsels

1 cup creamy peanut butter

5 1/2 cups corn flake cereal

1.Line baking sheets with waxed paper.

2.Place morsels in large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on MEDIUM-HIGH (70 %) power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Stir in peanut butter until smooth. Add corn flakes; stir until coated.

3.Drop by rounded teaspoon onto prepared baking sheetsRefrigerate for 20 minutes or until firm. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Makes 50.

Blog background comes to life!

So, since Konnor has been home, I have had to try and figure out how to handle two kids.  Their schedules were different, the wanted to eat at the same time. (Imagine this)  Holding konnor while he is eating, then making a sandwich for Jack, while trying not to get pulled on from my not so gentle baby.  Plus trying to clean house, and keep it organinzed.  On top of that, there are twice as many daipers to change.  Then trying to fit in my own time, then fit in Justin and me time.  Plus, I inherited a smelly pug from my sister for who knows how long.  She moved to a no pets home and so we "happily" took her baby till she can take her back.  Wow, hats off to the women that have tons of kids and have it figured out.

Well, I have sort of figured a little out.  Jack and Konnor now have their afternoon nap at the same time.  Jack eats/snacks when ever I have a minute to feed him. (Have to figure that out still)  Daiper changes one right after the other. (Jack doesn't have the desire to try potty training yet.) 

Well, after all that, I can finally tlak about why my background comes into play.  That is what the floors in the house look like when Jack is awake.  Covered with ALL of his toys, stuffed animals, blocks, and books.  Then before he goes to bed, we all clean it up, then the day starts over in 10 hours. 

One month ago, I had one child!  Awesome, easier, and more simple.  Now with two kids, one hubby, and two dogs, I have my groove back.

A day outside...

Our boys love being outside.  Since Konnor is still so little and fragile, we decided to wait for a day that wasn't so hot to go play.  Luckily Jb was able to hang out with us (but no picture), Jack of course wanted to play in the water so he got the hose out since his cute little giraffe pool has a small hole in it.  Meanwhile, Mommy and Konnor hung out on a blanket catching some sun. 

My dreams of having our two boys running around in the yard and playing at the park will soon draw near.  Jack is such an awesome big brother, and wants to help Konnor(almost too much) with anything and everything.  He is such a blessing in my life, and takes the place of his daddy when he is away. 

Still trying to juggle the routine of two very similar boys, but hopefully it will come together soon.

June 29th...

For those that are following, here is an update on Baby #2.  This post is mainly for me, so I can write down whats going to happen and hopefully make me feel a little less overwhelmed.  It's therapeutic for me to write when I am scared or nervous about something.  It somehow calms me down.

Any way,  This Tuesday, I will be having a doctors appointment that will consist of an ultrasound, Amniocentesis, then an NST (non-stress test).  I have had all my doctors tell me their views and opinions on the situation of getting an amnio and a C- section verses a vaginal delivery.  Which is very helpful in my situation where I have no idea what would be the best way to go.  Plus with the fact that my blood sugar numbers spiking for no apparent reason, Justin and I feel it would be best not to risk waiting and having the chance for a still-birth.  We have agreed to do an amniocentesis (taking a sample of my amniotic fluid to test the maturity of baby's lungs).  After listening to what my doctors had to say about them, and also reading up on the procedure,  I feel a little better about letting it happen. 

After this test, I will be able to find out the results while I am doing my NST. 

This was a relief.  I only have to wait about a half hour to forty five minutes to find out if baby's lungs are developed.  If they are mature and healthy enough to breath on his own, I will be scheduled for a C-section that afternoon. 

I was preparing to have a baby around July 16th, and then last Tuesday, plans changed to maybe having him this Tuesday.  A lot closer than expected but we are very excited either way.  We will keep you posted on if anything happens Tuesday. 

The beginning of "project one"

Well, I have had some new fascination with wanting to sew the past little while.  I found some some awesome sites with great patterns and Ideas, and fell in love with the idea that I could do it too!  Well,  there was one problem...  I have never sewn before in my life.  The classes in seventh grade that you were required to take don't really count, because you really don't remember what happened that long ago.  Well, I was determined to figure it out and start a project on my own with no experience to back me up. 

There is a boutique in The River Bottoms called Soul,  that I went to with my mom a while ago. They had a fabulous bird mobile (30+ birds) on display in the center of their store.  It truly was so adorable, it had inspired me to do one of my own.  They had a miniature one (with 3 birds on it) for sale that cost $110.  I don't know about you but that was ridiculous. 

So, that led me to doing my own rendition. 

This is the start of my own bird mobile that will go above the baby's cradle, till he is put int he crib that Jack refuses to leave.  It is converted into a toddler bed for now, but hopefully we don't have to resort in getting another crib.

5 birds down!  They take a little while for each one, but I have noticed that with each bird I do, they get better and better looking. Yeah!

The end is near...

The past few weeks have been filled with two doctor visits a week, and starting next Tuesday it will be three a week. So many doctors, machines and of course opinions.

I have a little under two weeks till my ultrasound to determine if its time for an amnio. or not.

I finally talked with one of my doctors and he explained a lot of things to me about whats going to happen the next few weeks and giving me options and his opinion on the delivery. (third Doctors the charm) Now understanding what might happen, Justin and I feel that because my body is so different with diabetes than the majority of women that deal with it, it would be best get an amnio. and schedule a C-section. Its sounds safer and unselfish (on my part) to get take the baby when he is ready and healthy, rather than wait and hope nothing happens till/ if I go into labor.

I never knew till yesterday the extent of gestational diabetes and pregnancy till I finally had some questions and got the answers I needed to make the best decisions possible. You would think that my doctors would explain everything to me if it was such a big deal, but I guess I was just one of those women that was looked over this time. I guess that's my fault for not researching and asking these questions earlier. Anyway, that being said, our little baby _______ will be coming earlier that thought.

I would say about three weeks from now we will finally get to meet our little baby. :)

June 29th...

On June 29Th, I will have another ultrasound determining how the baby is growing, and whether or not I need an amniocentesis. Scary!
Because I have gestational diabetes I have a very small risk of having a still birth if my blood sugar goes out of control after 37 weeks. That's why they want to do an amnio, so if his lung are developed, they can just take him out rather than waiting full term.
My sugar numbers have been pretty well controlled. I have been told that If I keep managing them as I have, then I should have no problem waiting till full term.
I don't want to even have an amnio done, so maybe I will just go to 39 week and see what happens. If the baby comes early, there will be nothing I can do about it, and If he doesn't come on time, then I will have to get a C-section at 39 weeks.
I had Gestational diabetes with Jack and I was able to wait till 39 weeks and have a C-section then, but he was breech most of the pregnancy so a C-section was inevitable.
I am probably over thinking this, but If you have any advice or whatever, please leave a note! Anything you would like to say... Good or bad.

Seven Weeks To Go!

I am down to only seven weeks left in my pregnancy. Seems like it took a while to get here, but now I'm starting think how it got here so fast! This time around has been a way different experience, but has still been great!
I am still managing my gestational diabetes pretty well, and only have to take a small dose of medication to keep them regulated. That has made quite a difference, and now I just have to figure out how to keep that going once the baby is here. Discipline! Discipline! Discipline!
Now that we have a 1/4 acre of grass, flowers, and a garden, I will have much to do and maintain. Plus with baby 2 being born in the summer, I hopefully won't go into hibernation like I did with Jack.
I am so excited to have this baby, and can't wait for the day to come when we all meet the new addition to our family! Especially when Jack is able to finally put a body and a face to this baby brother he has so dearly loved in my belly. I will have more pictures on Tuesday, and more updates on how he is growing. Till then, hopefully the next few weeks can pass faster than normal :)

I have four posts of some recipes I found while looking for something new to cook for dinners. For some reason, most of the recipes that sounded good were Mexican dishes. Oh well. I will be trying these in the next few days, so when I finish them I will take my own picture and give feedback about the dish. I am excited to try some new food, and hopefully it will be good enough to make more than once. A great day outside..

Love the weather, these past few days! We finally got some great weather to get some work done around the house, and the play in the water.

While Justin and our neighborhood friend Spencer were working on the yard, Jack, Tabi and I played in the water, ate sandwiches, chips and popsicles. Jack was finally able to get into his swim daiper and play with the hose. (his favorite toy) It was such a great day to hang outside and be with the family. I can't wait for the next time we are able to do this again.

"Baby Sister?"

Justin and I thought it would be nice to try and get Jack used to the fact that mommy's belly was growing and started talking to him about babies. One day we asked him what he thought the baby was going to be. "Jack, are you going to have a baby brother or a baby sister?" At first he would say "sister... brother" but then after about a week or so, he had decided that it was a baby sister. Four weeks later, we had our ultrasound that revealed what we were going to have. "Its a boy!" Justin wasn't convinced, and I still think he's not convinced even now.

It has been about ten weeks since we found out what we were having, and Jack still runs up to my belly, pulls up my shirt, and rubs that belly saying... "baby sister!" I think he is in denial just like his father. Hopefully by the time the baby is here, we can get him to stop saying baby sister. But, who knows. Maybe Jack is just getting a head start with teasing his little brother.

( The ultrasound picture wasn't the best, so maybe, just maybe it could go either way at this point. I go in for another ultrasound tomorrow, so maybe we can see for sure, and settle this little predicament we/Justin and Jack are in. )

"Baby no name..."

With no help from my man, baby #2 still has no name.

When we were pregnant with Jack we knew what his name would be long before he came, but with our next one, the name game just seems to be the hardest thing to figure out these days. I've been going through books and many many Internet sites to try and find a name that sounds at all like a name that interests me. Nothing has stood out. Maybe I am just being too picky or something, but I can't seem to jump this hurdle.

So, here is where I need you to come in.

" Where can I go to find a name?"

I have tried so many places, but you may know of a place, or book, or something I haven't looked at yet. I have two months left till the big day, so any help will do.

Temple Day!

April 29th, 2010

This day was a big day for Justin and I.

We went to the Temple together for the first time as husband and wife.

When we were married March 03, 2007, its was in a beautiful reception hall, with many family and friends at our side. That was the day we started our lives together, and since then, we have had so many wonderful moments that i would never change for anything. We found out shortly after we were married, that we were pregnant. (Three weeks into being newlyweds) yea for honeymoons babies! He is now almost 2 1/2 years, with a little baby brother on the way, due in July.

Justin and I have been working together to go to the Temple to be sealed as an eternal family since we have been married... The day is almost here!!

We will be making our way to the Draper, Utah Temple on May 8th, 2010. There, we will be sealed, alongside with our first born. We will then be an eternal family and our second son will be born into the covenant.

Next Saturday, the 8th of May, we will be off to the Draper Temple.

Yeah! I did it!

For the first time with this pregnancy, I have finally taken a picture of the belly! I am pretty sure I have gotten pictures taken at family functions or what not, with the proof of a baby in there, but until I find them, this is the first picture I have seen. I am such a bad one with taking pictures! We had an awesome camera, but then sometime around Thanksgiving it stopped working all together. Then about a month ago, we finally broke down and bought a new camera. Its nothing fancy, but now I am actually able to freeze moments again.

Here's to baby boy #2! I finally have proof that you won't just appear on our door step. ( I was starting to get worried that I would actually not have any proof of being pregnant with him at all.) Thanks to all of you that kept asking for pictures. I will try and be better at this and take pictures.

So having been pregnant before, I would have thought that the second time around would be very similar. Umm.... Guess again!

This guy is almost the opposite of his big brother.

• With Jack, during the whole pregnancy I gained a total of 14 lbs.
• #2, I still have 10/11 weeks to go, and I have already gained 15 lbs.
• The only time Jack would push to the outside of my belly was when I was taking hot showers. The rest of the time, he was chilling in and up under my ribs. (The whole time!) When we were 2 weeks to Jacks due date, my doctor tried to turn jack because he was breach and up in my ribs, instead of upside down and laying low.
• With #2 He is pushing out my stomach all the time, its like he trying to come out of my belly button. This one hangs out so low I feel like a penguin when I walk because hes chilling in between my legs all the time.
• When Jack moved, it was always in the same spots. One the sides.
• When #2 moves, he is doing flips. even when we have ultra sounds, he spins.

I am so excited when the day comes, to finally see Jack and his little brother together. Jack already holds my belly. "Mama, hold baby pease!" then he would lay on my belly with his arm wrapped around the front of my stomach, with his head laying on top of it. Its the sweetest thing in the world. ( I will for sure try to snap a picture of that, it's so priceless.)
