A day at the park

After a few days of yucky weather, the sun came out at a convenient time Thursday morning. With black clouds still in the sky, I decided that the sooner weleft fr the park, the better. So I fed the boys then off to the park we went. Of course when we got there, Konnor was asleep.

Jack didn't want pictures to be taken.... at first

But then everywhere we went he wanted a picture taken of him. One more picture was taken of baby KC before we left, which happen to be the same position as the picture we took of him right when we got to the park.

Surprisingly we left the park and got home just before a crazy wind/rain storm started. Phew!

Highland Nights and Alpine Days

Highland Days was held the last weekend in July, so we decided to take the boys to fireworks that night.

Thought he was really going to hit someone with that thing!

Before the fireworks started, we bought Jack a cool light saber to keep him busy. Like six different color settings. To understand the video a little better, Jacks favorite movie then was Spiderwick. We love our little killer.

Alpine Days was the first weekend in August and also the last fireworks of the year. So most of the Gillette family got together and made a sleepover of it. BBQ the night before with a movie outside on the deck that night as well. Watched Tooth Fairy with The Rock and it was pretty funny. Grandpa made the boys pipe guns which was a big hit figuratively and literally. Playing in the hammock was also a big hit. The simplest things that entertain little boys... Love it!

Peanut Butterscotch Drops

Peanut Butterscotch Drops

1 (11-ounce) package or 1 2/3 cups Butterscotch Flavored Morsels

1 cup creamy peanut butter

5 1/2 cups corn flake cereal

1.Line baking sheets with waxed paper.

2.Place morsels in large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on MEDIUM-HIGH (70 %) power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Stir in peanut butter until smooth. Add corn flakes; stir until coated.

3.Drop by rounded teaspoon onto prepared baking sheetsRefrigerate for 20 minutes or until firm. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Makes 50.

Our Babies

This was taken about a week ago. Jack has his moments when he is the best brother, but then totally switches to a mean monster with baby KC.

Blog background comes to life!

So, since Konnor has been home, I have had to try and figure out how to handle two kids. Their schedules were different, the wanted to eat at the same time. (Imagine this) Holding konnor while he is eating, then making a sandwich for Jack, while trying not to get pulled on from my not so gentle baby. Plus trying to clean house, and keep it organinzed. On top of that, there are twice as many daipers to change. Then trying to fit in my own time, then fit in Justin and me time. Plus, I inherited a smelly pug from my sister for who knows how long. She moved to a no pets home and so we "happily" took her baby till she can take her back. Wow, hats off to the women that have tons of kids and have it figured out.

Well, I have sort of figured a little out. Jack and Konnor now have their afternoon nap at the same time. Jack eats/snacks when ever I have a minute to feed him. (Have to figure that out still) Daiper changes one right after the other. (Jack doesn't have the desire to try potty training yet.)

Well, after all that, I can finally tlak about why my background comes into play. That is what the floors in the house look like when Jack is awake. Covered with ALL of his toys, stuffed animals, blocks, and books. Then before he goes to bed, we all clean it up, then the day starts over in 10 hours.

One month ago, I had one child! Awesome, easier, and more simple. Now with two kids, one hubby, and two dogs, I have my groove back.

The weather still feels like august sometimes. Everything around us is still changing. The leaves are starting to turn colors, and fall. the flowers and the grass are starting to die and go into hibernation. The decorations and the surroundings in the home are changing as well. Our home spells of warmth and spices. The heater kicks on to give bursts of heat. blankets scattered throughout the house, and the sudden urges to cook yummy bread or soup. I love this weather and wish it would stay year 'round. (except for those occasional sicknesses) Those can leave and never come again. Happy Autumn!

I recently came across this site, and LOVED it! Maybe its because my mom had something like it when I was growing up. My mother had a necklace with our whole family on it, including each birthstone jewel and she wore it all the time. I love my family dearly and thought that if I wasnt with either one or all of them, I could at least have a piece of them. Plus they are adorable pieces of jewelry plus more. They have charms, earings, bracelets, necklaces, even things like monogramed spoons (my fav.) Check it out! Its worth a few browsing minutes.

cool weather has come

This will be our first fall/winter in our new home. We moved from living in Alpine with Justin's parents, to buying our first home in Eagle Mountain in May. This year has been long, hard, exciting, fast, and sweet. Every emotion you can think of, we have been through since we have moved into our home. It may seem bad at times, but what challenges us, only makes us stronger. The times we have that keep a smile on our face, and make us happy, enables us to endure the hardships and make the sweet times more precious.

The leaves change color, soon fade and fall to the ground. The wind blows hard, and cold. the sky starts to go grey, with each cloud that lingers. These are some of the signs that say the cold seasons is here. Warm sweaters, fuzzy socks. Toys, stuffed animals and blankets are scattered throughout the house. Hot soups, chilis, and bread in the oven. The only thing missing in the house is a wood burning fireplace. (coming soon.. I hope!)
As the months pass by, the smells change, the food changes and the seasons come and go but the feel of our home will remain. This in my favorite time of the year and its only going to get better.

March 2009 Spring has Sprung!

It is now officially Spring, but you wouldn't think so if you looked outside. There is at least three inches of snow on the ground. Only a few days ago it was 70* outside with birds singing and children with their bikes and toys. Im guessing the weather wants to play games with us.
While we had the chance though, Jack and I were outside playing with the puppies, drawing with chalk and washing the cars. Jack would have loved to go outside naked but I hesitated and let him out with just his shorts. His cute little belly was sticking out, as he was walking around with dirt in his mouth patting his belly as if he was satisfied with what he just ate.
As he gets older, his personality really starts to shine. If only I could catch those satisfied looks and funny faces, but sadly I can only capture a few. (Its hard to carry around a camera everywhere I go. but I try) If only he had a little brother or sister to tag along with him, and show him or her the ropes of all the fantastic things that he discovers. Hopefully one day soon that wish will become a reality.
